With Genki Shock, Shonen Knife, in this their 25th Anniversary year as a group, stay true to their 'Ramone's of Japan' punk pop roots. Fans are calling the sharper edged Genki Shock their best album in years. Emphasis tracks include S-P-A-M (which is also the first video), Rock Society, Giant Kitty and the wistful track My Magic Glasses. The U.S. version has been re-recorded in English, features a new sequence and a new version of the album art with English lyrics in the liner notes.

Back when there was alternative rock, these punky Japanese cuties mispronounced adorable observations about cats and mushrooms and other childlike topics, and sensitive types wondered if college kids were just being condescending. Nice to know the ladies are still bashing away, after all these years.
